I’m trying to slow down.
Things that are currently helping:
Writing or scribbling in a notebook first thing in the morning instead of checking email or news
Listening to road noises and my own breathing instead of music or podcasts during my morning commute
A daily reminder at 8pm that says, “Today I want to remember…” and then typing something into a dedicated note on my phone
I’m trying to slow down because Olive is already seven months old (!!!) and starting to sit in a highchair and eat people food.
Today I’m sharing a zine I made back when Knox was sitting in that same highchair experiencing food for the first time.
ALSO
Van Neistat talking about easy flow (tinkering) and hard flow (writing) while quoting director Jane Campion: “When I first started writing, one of the things I realized was, for the first three hours you sit down to do something, nothing really happens. It’s like it’s testing you. Will you stay for that fourth hour?”
Olivia Twist on finding beauty in the mundane and documenting it with ordinary materials.
I’m obsessed with this animation and zine and will be buying some styrofoam paper ASAP.
My friend Lauden absolutely delivering for the cover of Isthmus.
“Mom, what is catching vibes?”
This newsletter is sent out every Sunday morning, rain or shine. It’s lovingly made by Mitchell and patiently edited by Carly. Knox and Olive are around here somewhere. We do not use AI.a
Thank for being here. If you want to support my work you can become a paid subscriber (I’ll occasionally send you stuff in the mail), buy a zine, share this post with a friend, or hire me to make stuff for you.
Thanks for the Digital Packrate Manifesto link, I needed to read that.
This is so beautiful
