I Will
12 true (or at least hopefully true) statements about teaching design
I will create a collaborative and communal classroom
I will cultivate a welcoming environment for every type of learner
I will prioritize teaching skills that cannot be rendered obsolete by software updates
I will help students find their own voice and encourage them to use it
I will meet students where they are
I will learn the name of every student and pronounce it correctly
I will keep an open mind to another generations ways of doing things
I will showcase the work of designers underrepresented in traditional design history
I will explore the tension between technical execution and concept development
I will plant seeds, water soil, and remove weeds, but I will not tell the plants how to grow
I will improvise and feel it out
I will have fun
