Thank you for this wonderful post! So many good links here. I also love Richard Mcguire’s Here so much. One of the best graphic novels out there.

This is why I miss chronological feeds. The ecosystem of cool folks I was following always floated something interesting up to the top. The algorithm has unbalanced every platform, but it’s worst for me on Pinterest (which is why it’s been cool to discover Are.na). Rather than serving up an eclectic arrangement of images it now thinks I can only have one interest at a time so after searching for something this is all I see! 🫠

It’s also really special to get a recommendation directly from a friend. Even if you’ve already watched or listened now you can talk about it. Win, win.

Chronological feeds is one of the things I'll tell my grandkids about. Pinterest is almost unusable. I have to reset the whole thing every time I start a new project. Are.na is so cool!

“Back in my day there was no algorithm kids! We had to wait for someone to post something new.”

The good old days.

When I see that shade of yellow paper I think of the Canadian no name®️ brand of food, where it's just a black lowercase name on a bright yellow background and the occasional simple photo of the food (like one lemon, or one apple). If you've never seen it before, you might get a kick out of it.

Oh woah! I have not seen that before thanks for sharing. Seeing photos of entire shelves full of that yellow color is mesmerizing.

I have about 8 friends and coworkers who share my name. It gets confusing at times.

I'm very much in agreement with the algorithm dilemma. Sometimes, I really wish I could wipe away all of the tailored content I get. I've really just been leaning more and more towards books and bookstores and wonderful substack's like yours. Speaking of, thank you for these great comic suggestions!
