I loved getting to read about Lynda Barry's Brush and will definitely need to check out her book. The Citi Bank logo was also so encouraging. Thank you for sharing.

She also has some "how to do creative stuff" type books which are also great (Syllabus, Making Comics, What It is, Picture This) https://drawnandquarterly.com/author/lynda-barry/

Thanks for reading, Matt.

You’re making me really curious about dabbling in animation! Nearly done grading finals. Maybe this is the week. 📽️

Do it! Unsolicited advice: start small and use the tools/software you already know how to use. When I was first interested in animation I was like, "I better learn how to rig 3D characters in After Effects," and did NOT enjoy it. Then I went way more lofi and started to love it.

Good advice! I am definitely that kind of person. I bought a ukulele and the first song I tried to learn was the melody from Concerning Hobbits. 😂 I need to try something simpler.

As for animation I’ve made GIFS (from photographs) in Procreate so I’ll start there. I love how what you’ve shared is an invitation to turn a doodle into animation so I’m going to take a stab at that with my kid this weekend.

Ha! Shoot for the moon and land in the stars, right?

Have fun doodling. I would love to see it if you end up making something.
